MARIA ZUCKERMAN Maria Zuckerman is vice president, HBO Films, for Home Box Office. Based in New York, she is responsible for overseeing the development and production of original movies for the network. She was named to this position in April 2007. Among the numerous award-winning projects sheÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s worked on are the multiple EmmyÔø‡ and Golden GlobeÔø‡-winning The Girl in the Café, written by Richard Curtis; the multiple EmmyÔø‡-nominated and Golden GlobeÔø‡-winning Longford, written by Academy AwardÔø‡ winner Peter Morgan and directed by Tom Hooper; and the multiple EmmyÔø‡ and Golden GlobeÔø‡-winning Grey Gardens, starring Drew Barrymore and two-time OscarÔø‡ winner Jessica Lange. Recent projects include the BBC co-productions My Zinc Bed with Uma Thurman and Jonathan Pryce and A Number, starring Tom Wilkinson and Rhys Ifans. She also worked on the theatrical film Kit Kittredge: An American Girl with Abigail Breslin for Picturehouse. Zuckerman is currently working on The Special Relationship, directed by Richard Loncraine and starring Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, Dennis Quaid as Bill Clinton and Hope Davis as Hillary Clinton. It is the third film in Peter MorganÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s trilogy that includes HBOÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s The Deal and the Academy AwardÔø‡ winning theatrical The Queen. Zuckerman joined HBO in October 1999 as an assistant, Literary Affairs. Throughout her ten-plus year career at HBO, she has been associated with HBO Films, mostly as the sole creative presence for the film division on the East Coast. She began her tenure covering the New York creative community and later added London to her responsibilities, forging long-term relationships with UK-based producers and talent which led to subsequent HBO co-productions with Great Britain. Previously, Zuckerman was a corporate communications associate at Artisan Entertainment, where she helped establish the companyÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s New York office and was involved in campaigns for The Blair Witch Project, The Limey, and FeliciaÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s Journey. She began her career as a junior publicist in Castle Rock EntertainmentÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s New York office, where she worked on such projects as The Green Mile, Mickey Blue Eyes, and The Last Days of Disco. Zuckerman is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The Independent Film Project, and BAFTA East Coast. She received a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Film Studies.
