Dear WET Friends and Family,

I hope you are all well! I would like to share a quote from my hero, Eleanor Roosevelt, which has inspired my work this year: "With the new day, comes new strength and new thoughts."

As many of you know, over the past year and half, a number of changes have taken place in the world of WET. Victoria made a transition out of the company's executive staff in June 2010 and has gone on to pursue a Master's degree at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and Ashley Eichhorn-Thompson moved to Pennsylvania with her husband Joe, to run the family business. As the Executive Producer and Artistic Director of WET, I have continued to produce and promote projects that I am extremely proud of, and are featured throughout this website. Most importantly, both Victoria and I became mothers. My son, Phoenix Isaiah Weiss Stolzman, was born in May 2010, and Victoria’s daughter, Lily Victoria Verost, was born in July 2011. These two creations inspire us daily to take empowered risks and grow in ways we did not even know were possible. Additionally, Victoria and I were honored to be selected by The UTNE Reader as two of the 25 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World, in a list that included Julian Assange and Nelson Mandela, and were equally thrilled to be given The Harlequin More Than Words Award for being “real life heroines? These acknowledgements are so generous and they validate what inspired us to found the company thirteen years ago: our desire to make this country a better place for women and girls simply by changing the way women are represented in the media. Thank you for the support and momentum all of you have provided to help make this work and organization possible.

Over the past year, along with being a new mother, I have continued to run WET with the support of our extraordinary Board of Directors, creating valuable projects that fulfill the organization's mission. In WET’s INKubator, we developed new scripts - plays and a screenplay, produced public and private readings of new work; in WET Events, we partnered with sister non-profits on events ranging in subjects from maternal mortality and healthy birth, to sexual harassment; in WET's Mentorship program, we provided ten producing apprenticeships to young women pursuing careers in the entertainment industry. WET's Mentorship program has been enormously successful over the past 13 years, and its alumnae have gone on to work at esteemed non-profits including BAM, The Signature Theater, The Elie Wiesel Foundation, and for commercial, film, and theater producers. Thank you to NYSCA, The DYCD, Christine Quinn, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and Mr. Jack Sharkey for providing major support to WET's 2010-2011 year of programming.

Currently, WET’s Risk Takers Series, our unique media literacy and leadership program for teenage girls is on hiatus due to decreased foundation support. This extraordinary program has been incredibly effective and we are so proud of the over 700 girls who have graduated from Risk Takers ?they have applied to and attended their dream colleges, won scholarships, participated in competitve internship programs to pursue their dream careers, built healthy relationships with family members and new friends, traveled to other countries and created leadership programs in their respective schools. Yeah girls! This year, while I was watching the documentary Misrepresentation, I was so proud of WET, and grateful for the opportunities I have had through Risk Takers to effect change promoting healthy self-esteem to adolescent girls.

I am excited to begin this year by instituting a new chapter for WET, with an operational structure for the organization that enables us to work project to project, rather than seasonally. This will allow me, as the Artistic Director, to organically focus on the creative work as I discover and build it, and support the expansion of Victoria and my life - creating more time for us to pursue opportunities that perpetuate our mission, but allow us to work on this mission in capacities both outside of the non-profit and within it. As WET's founders, the mission of WET is our personal mission and connected to everything we do and who we are. Gender inequity is a fundamental and systemic problem; we all have the power to transcend this problem to make the world a better place for women and girls - for our daughters, sisters, girlfriends, wives, mothers and grandmothers. WET Productions does this every day, in every way, thanks in part to your support and commitment to this cause.

In order to have the fluidity to produce work as we discover material that needs WET’s support, WET will have minimal, but necessary operational expenses. To express your dedication to this unique non-profit, and provide WET with invaluable operational support, please make a tax deductible donation by clicking here so we can continue to change the way the world sees women and women see themselves. We will update you with work WET is involved with as we develop, support, promote and produce work that challenges female stereotypes and advocates for equality.

Throughout the website, you will find highlights, articles, artwork and current events connected with WET’s work. Please enjoy looking through ?our work is all made possible by your continued support. We look forward to sharing more with you in the future.
