WET'S RISK TAKERS SERIES Each session begins with the screening of a selected film that is directly connected to an issue teenage girls are struggling with today – issues that challenge a girl’s self-esteem: sex, HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy, abusive relationships, eating disorders, body image, drug and alcohol use, peer pressure, gender stereotyping, sexual harassment, racism and classicism. Following the screening, girls participate in break-out discussion groups led by female volunteer mentors. The conversations follow a curriculum specific to the issues raised in the film. The final session of Risk Takers is WET’s Risk Takers Health Fair. The Health Fair is a day of workshops in body image, nutrition, public speaking, sex education, self-defense and yoga. The day provides the girls with active tools they can practice in their daily lives.
