LAURA EASON
Laura Eason is the author of more than fifteen plays -- both original work and adaptations. In New York, she is an Affiliated Artist and Kitchen Cabinet member of New Georges, a Playwright Member of the Women’s Project Lab and a second year member of America-in-Play. For six years, she was the Artistic Director of Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago where she is still an active Ensemble Member. Recent productions include WHEN THE MESSENGER IS HOT (Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago and 59E59, NYC), AREA OF RESCUE (Andhow Theatre at the Connelly, NYC), THE GHOST’S BARGAIN (Two River Theater, NJ) and AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (Lookingglass Theatre) which she also directed and was nominated for seven Chicago Jeff Awards including Best Production and Best Adaptation. Laura’s plays have been developed in New York at MCC, New York Theatre Workshop and New Georges and more than ten of her full-length plays have been produced at theaters across the country. Additional plays include SEX WITH STRANGERS, 40 DAYS, PLAINFIELD ACE, and REWIND, among others. Her work is published by Broadway Play Publishing where she was named playwright of the year in 2007. Laura is a graduate of the Performance Studies Department of Northwestern University. Also an occasional actor, she is currently performing opposite fellow company member David Schwimmer in Lookingglass’ production of Our Town directed by Tony-winner Anna D.
